Go beyond the results with TracTrac UK and Vantage Sailing

The results tell you who won. The data tells you how.

Ever wondered why one sailor gained five places on the beat, who had the fastest downwind speed, or how the race leaders managed to pull away?

TracTrac UK has teamed up with Vantage Sailing to turn GPS race tracking data into detailed analytical race reports, giving sailors, coaches and parents a whole new perspective on racing performance.

For the first time, you can explore how races were won, compare the performance of the leading sailors and discover the small differences that make a big impact on the results.

What's inside the reports?

Every race is broken down into individual legs, allowing you to compare the top ten sailors and see where positions were won and lost.

Starting performance

Explore how sailors performed off the start line, including their early speed, positioning and ability to establish an advantage.

Upwind and downwind speed

Compare boat speeds, VMG (Velocity Made Good) and performance on different points of sail. Discover who was quickest and who made the most effective progress towards the next mark.

Distance sailed

See how far each sailor actually travelled. Did the winner sail a shorter course, or did superior speed make the difference?

Tacks, gybes and manoeuvres

Compare the number of manoeuvres and examine how different tactical decisions affected performance.

Positions gained and lost

Follow the changes in race positions leg by leg and identify the moments that made the difference.

Wind and polar analysis

Explore estimated wind conditions and sailing performance using class-specific polar data to understand how efficiently sailors sailed.
