TracTracUK at Poole Week 2026
Tracking, Coaching and Drone Footage at Parkstone Yacht Club
TracTracUK was back at Parkstone Yacht Club for another fantastic Poole Week in 2026, building on the success of previous years and taking race analysis to another level.
This year we were joined by highly respected sailing coach Adam Bowers, combining his on-the-water observations and coaching experience with TracTracUK GPS data and, for the first time at Poole Week, high-action drone footage of the racing.
The result was a powerful combination: tracking showed exactly what happened, drone footage provided the view from above, and Adam helped explain why it happened.
Tracking Across Poole Week
Throughout the week, TracTracUK trackers were rotated between fleets, allowing sailors from across the regatta to analyse their racing.

Competitors could follow the racing live and then return to the tracking afterwards to analyse their own performance against the rest of the fleet.
Using TracTrac, sailors could see SOG, COG, VMG, every tack and gybe, positioning at the start, gains and losses around the course and the different routes taken by the leading boats.
For the handicap fleets, the tracking added another dimension by allowing the racing to be viewed with the relevant handicap applied — giving a much clearer picture of who was actually leading the race on corrected time as the racing unfolded.
TracTracUK + Adam Bowers
One of the highlights of Poole Week 2026 was our collaboration with highly respected sailing coach Adam Bowers.
Each day after racing, sailors packed into the training room for a race debrief using the TracTrac replay, drone footage and Adam's observations from the water.
Rather than simply looking at the results sheet, we could rewind the race and ask:
How did the race winners win?
Where did they start and why?
Which side of the course paid?
Who found the best pressure?
Where were the biggest gains and losses made?
Who had the strongest average boat speed?
What did the leading sailors do differently?
And, just as importantly, how do you avoid losing places when things don't go to plan?
Not every race is won by making one brilliant tactical decision. Often, the best sailors succeed because they avoid the big losses.
Using the tracking, Adam could identify where sailors had turned a difficult situation into a manageable one — knowing when to take a small loss, when to protect clear air, when to get back towards the fleet and when not to take unnecessary risks.
That gave the debriefs two really valuable perspectives: how the race winners won — and how the rest of us can learn not to lose.
By combining Adam's coaching insight with objective GPS data and drone footage, sailors could see exactly how decisions made on the water translated into places gained or lost.
The sessions proved extremely popular, with the training room full as sailors came together after racing to understand how races are won — and how not to lose them.
Adding the View from Above
For 2026, TracTracUK also introduced drone footage into the Poole Week analysis.
We captured starts and key moments of the racing from above, giving sailors a completely different perspective on what was happening across the racecourse.
The footage was then used alongside the GPS tracking and Adam's coaching observations during the debriefs.
A start could be watched on video and then immediately compared with the tracking — showing the position of every tracked boat, their speed, their route off the line and what happened during the opening stages of the race.
It brought the racing to life and demonstrated how GPS tracking, coaching and video can work together as a complete performance-analysis package.
Turning Racing into Insight
The aim of TracTracUK isn't simply to put dots on a screen.
It's about helping sailors understand their racing.
The results tell you who won. TracTrac shows you how.
At Poole Week, sailors could compare themselves against the fastest boats in their fleet, identify the decisions that made the biggest difference and then take those lessons back onto the water the following day.
For Parkstone Yacht Club, it also created an engaging post-race experience, bringing sailors together after racing and adding another dimension to an already brilliant regatta.
Another Great Poole Week
Poole Week continues to be a fantastic showcase for club and class racing, and TracTracUK was delighted to be back at Parkstone Yacht Club in 2026.
