TracTracUK delivers live tracking for the iconic RORC Admiral’s Cup

July 17-August 1st 2025

TracTracUK was proud to provide live GPS tracking for the RORC Admiral’s Cup, supporting across the three inshore race days — a series that delivered relentless action, world-class competition, and some of the very best sailors on the planet.

With crews stacked full of elite professional sailors, Olympic medallists, America’s Cup veterans, and offshore legends, the inshore racing was intense from start to finish. Tight mark roundings, frequent lead changes, and tactical brilliance made these races a perfect showcase for high-resolution live tracking.

A Regatta Steeped in History

First contested in 1957, the Admiral’s Cup has long been regarded as one of offshore sailing’s most prestigious trophies. Often described as the “unofficial world championship of offshore racing,” it has been a proving ground for teams, designers, and sailors alike for nearly seven decades.

The Cup’s return to prominence continues to attract the very highest level of international competition, and in 2025 the inshore racing once again played a crucial role — blending raw boat speed with tactical precision under the IRC rule.

“The Admiral’s Cup is one of the most demanding events on the sailing calendar,” said Stuart Childerley, RORC Race Director.

Bringing the Racing to Life with Time-on-Time Tracking

For the inshore race days, TracTracUK delivered live GPS tracking with an enhanced time-on-time leaderboard, allowing race followers to see far more than just who was leading on the water.

Using the IRC handicap system, the tracking feed showed:

  • Who was leading on corrected IRC time

  • Who was winning on the water

  • Live position changes as tactical decisions played out across the racecourse

This dual-layer insight transformed the viewing experience, giving teams, media, and spectators a clear understanding of how each boat was performing both in real terms and on handicap — something that is especially critical in high-level IRC racing.

“You can immediately see whether a shift or a positioning call has actually worked on corrected time, not just against the boats around you.”

A Truly Global Audience

Across the three days of inshore racing, more than 7,000 viewers per day followed the action live via TracTracUK’s tracking platform. Audiences tuned in from across the globe, including New Zealand and Australia, underlining both the international appeal of the Admiral’s Cup and the growing demand for accessible, data-rich live race coverage.

Managed Live from the Racecourse

All tracking operations were managed on the water from the TracTracUK rib, ensuring:

  • Robust, reliable data throughout each race

  • Immediate response to racecourse changes

  • Close coordination with the race management team

Being embedded directly on the course allowed TracTracUK to deliver a seamless live experience, even during the most congested and high-pressure moments of the racing.

Supporting Elite Racing at the Highest Level

The Admiral’s Cup represents offshore and inshore racing at its very best, and TracTracUK was delighted to support an event where precision, performance, and professionalism matter at every level.

From showcasing tactical battles to revealing the true IRC picture as races unfolded, live tracking once again proved its value as an essential tool for modern championship sailing.

We’re proud to have played a part in bringing the race to life and look forward to supporting more iconic events where the world’s best sailors compete at the very top of the sport.

The Admiral’s Cup will return in 2027.
