Tracking Every Move: TracTracUK at the RYA Youth Nationals 2026

At TracTracUK, we’re incredibly proud to have supported the RYA Youth Nationals at Hayling Island Sailing Club (HISC) from April 3rd to April 10th—one of the most important events in the UK sailing calendar—by delivering comprehensive live GPS tracking across the entire regatta.

This wasn’t just tracking a select fleet or a handful of races. We tracked every boat, in every race, across every course, covering over 100 races across the week.

Total Visibility on the Water

Across the 8-day event, we delivered full-fleet coverage, including:

  • 80 ILCA sailors

  • 14 iQFOiL riders

  • 11 Nacra 15 teams

  • 43 29er crews

  • 47 420 crews

Alongside this, we tracked the full support operation:

  • 20 safety ribs

  • 11 race management boats

This created a complete, live picture of everything happening on the water—every race, every movement, every decision.

Safety First — Always

At an event of this scale, safety is paramount.

By tracking not just the competitors but also every key on-water asset, we ensured that race teams had full visibility of both sailors and support resources at all times. This meant:

  • Safety coverage could be monitored and adjusted in real time

  • Resources could be deployed instantly where needed

  • No area of the race course was ever out of sight

Crucially, this gave us a complete overview of every sailor, all of the time.

Instant Awareness, Faster Response

One of the most powerful aspects of the system is the ability to immediately spot when something isn’t quite right.

If a sailor stopped, slowed unexpectedly, or drifted out of position, it was instantly visible. This allowed safety teams to:

  • Identify potential issues early

  • React faster to incidents

  • Maintain constant situational awareness across all courses

  • Guide a safety resource to the exact spot

In a fast-moving, multi-course championship, that level of awareness is a game-changer.

More Than Just Tracking

While safety is always the priority, the data captured also unlocks performance insights.

From post-race debriefs to analysing race-winning moves, tracking allows sailors and coaches to go beyond results and truly see how races are won.
